The official opening of the Bulgarian pavilion at the 61st edition of the International Children's Book Fair in Bologna is taking place on the first day of the exhibition, April 8th at 11:30 a.m. in the presence of publishers, authors, illustrators and official guests.
The stand is the largest one that Bulgaria has had at the prestigious exhibition. In the space of 64 square meters, several selections of books are presented: the latest editions from 2023, internationally recognized Bulgarian titles from the collection of The White Ravens, as well as a wide selection of the most interesting books of the last ten years.
The exhibition Joy, Sadness and Hope. 25 Bulgarian Illustrators of Children's Books, which contains the works of prominent Bulgarian artists, can be visited at the pavilion, too. A connecting link between the exhibition and the selection of new books is the collection of classic editions presented, which represent part of the golden treasures of Bulgarian children's literature.
The pavilion has space for holding business meetings between publishers. It also offers information about Bulgarian books, authors, publishing houses, translators, artists, forums, organizations and programs for translation and promotion of Bulgarian literature abroad.
The selection of books was made by Zornitsa Hristova, Val Stoeva and Kristina Toujarova. The design of the stand is the work of Anton Staykov and Svoboda Tzekova, who are also curators of the exhibition.
