Bulgaria in the Bologna Children’s Book Fair

Bulgaria will have a pavilion at the 61st International Children’s Book Fair in Bologna. The event will take place from April 8 to 11, according to the organizers of the Bulgarian representation from the Culture and Literature Association and the Bulgarian Book Association.

Bulgaria will be represented in the forum with the latest books by Bulgarian authors, a selection of children’s books from the last ten years, and award-winning titles, as well as old classic editions. An exhibition of children’s illustrations by contemporary Bulgarian artists will also be arranged at the Bulgarian pavilion. Its curators are Anton Staykov and Svoboda Tsekova, and after its premiere in Bologna, the exposition will be shown in several cities in our country.

The goal of the Bulgarian section of the children’s book is to provide an opportunity for professional meetings between native publishers and potential foreign partners. At the Bulgarian stand, international visitors will be able to get information about publishers, festivals, and forums in the field of books and translation in our country.

The pavilion will host several events, including the presentation of funding programs for the translation and promotion of Bulgarian literature abroad.

The book fair is the world’s premier clearinghouse for copyrights in the publishing of children’s books, illustrations and animation, and related cultural products. Bulgaria’s presence is of great importance for the development of the industry and for the promotion of our country’s culture abroad. The project has been carried out with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture, the National CultureFund, the Culture Program of Sofia Municipality, and with the co-operation of the Bulgarian consulate in Bologna.
