This edition of one of the Brothers Grimm’s most beloved fairy tales, "Sleeping Beauty", features the remarkable illustrations of artist Katina Peeva. Her illustrations are intuitive and associative, evoking other magical stories and myths intertwined with motifs characteristic of fairy tales — such as the struggle between good and evil, light and darkness, life and death, and the inevitable awakening and triumph of justice in the end.
"The illustrations for "Sleeping Beauty" emerged as an extension and development of an older project of mine — a series of portraits of characters from classic fairy tales, a genre that has always fascinated and inspired me", says Katina Peeva. "The style I used here is more complex and naturalistic than what I have drawn so far. For me, working on this book was both an experiment and a personal challenge."
