Margarit Minkov (1947-1997) was a Bulgarian children's writer, poet, playwright, and screenwriter. He was born in Pleven. He educated himself in philosophy, music, world literature, physics. His children's books are distinctive for their engaging humour and sense of paradox and their fables. Over the years, he collaborated with the children's editorial staff of the Bulgarian National Television, worked as a playwright in the theatres in Sliven and Vratsa, and became the artistic director and director of the Tears and Laughter Theatre in Sofia. He won a number of awards for his plays and children's books and wrote poetry throughout his entire life. His book Merry, Tickling Laughter was published posthumously.
