Dora Gabe (1888 – 1983) was born in Dobrich, Bulgaria. Her birth name was Isidora Peysah. She was the daughter of the prominent Dobrudzha estate owner Petar Gabe. She completed her high school education in Varna and then pursued natural sciences at Sofia University in 1904. In 1905, she travelled to Geneva, Switzerland, and later to Grenoble, France, to study French philology. In 1925, she edited the series Library for the Little Ones, and later became the editor of the children's magazine Prozorche. Her first children’s poem was published in Alexander Bozhinov’s Our Children’s Golden Book in 1921. Subsequently, she published numerous books of poetry for children, which over time became classics.
